Amit Loewenthal, Ph.D.

Amit Loewenthal is a researcher at the Aaron Institute for Economic Policy, Reichman University, and a research coordinator at the Israeli Institute for Economic Planning (IEP).

His main fields of interest are the political economy of violent conflicts and socioeconomic inequality.

Amit’s work has been recognized by several competitive grants and awards. His dissertation won the Horowitz Institute Doctoral Scholarship in Economic and Social Development and the Yitzhak Rabin Award for research on peace and reconciliation. He also received a postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Potsdam.

Amit has worked with various NGOs and think tanks, such as the Israeli Democracy Institute and the Arab Economic Forum. He has published several academic research papers on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict concerning the relationship between economic conditions and political violence in the West Bank and Gaza and policy papers dealing with solutions for reducing poverty and economic gaps.
